Summary |
Vladimir Horowitz remembered by his wife and archive footage of his performances. Four years after Vladimir Horowitz's death in 1989, Pat Jaffe and Bob Eisenhardt interviewed the pianist's widow, Wanda Toscanini Horowitz, to pay tribute to the 1903-born artist who almost covered the whole 20th century with his life, and who would obviously leave an indelible mark on the piano interpretation. This documentary includes archive footage from legendary performances of the pianist (notable some excerpts from Clementi's Sonata in F-sharp Minor and a complete performance of Scriabin's Vers la Flamme, Op. 72), as well as segments from The Last Romantic, a film in which Horowitz played and discussed his favorite composers in his own living-room in Manhattan in the 1980s. |
