This book takes as its premise that the basic configuration of the plantation, in terms of its physical layout and the social relations it created, was largely the same in the Caribbean and the American South. Essays written by leading authorities in the field examine the cultural, social, and historical affinities between the Francophone Caribbean and the American South, including Louisiana, which among the Southern states has had a quite particular attachment to France and the Francophone world. The essays focus on issues of history, language, politics and culture in various forms, notably literature, music and theatre. 546 In English. 588 Description based on print version record. 590 Project Muse|bProject Muse Open Access 650 0 Postcolonialism in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002010213 650 0 American literature|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85004336|xCaribbean authors.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2007002423 650 0 French literature|zForeign countries|xHistory and criticism.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2008121261 650 0 Caribbean literature (French Creole)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh96010222|xHistory and criticism. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001187 650 7 Kreolen.|2gnd 650 7 Postcolonialism in literature.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1073035 650 7 Literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/999953 650 7 French literature|xForeign countries.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/934711 650 7 Civilization.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/862898 650 7 Caribbean literature (French Creole)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/847483 650 7 LITERARY CRITICISM|xCaribbean & Latin American.|2bisacsh 650 7 HISTORY|xCaribbean & West Indies|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 650 7 Literary studies: from c 1900.|2bicssc 650 7 Literary studies: general.|2bicssc 650 7 Literature: history and criticism.|2bicssc 650 7 Literature and literary studies.|2bicssc 650 7 American literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 807113 650 7 Authors, Caribbean.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 821876 651 0 Southern States|xCivilization.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85125635 651 0 Southern States|xIn literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008111638 651 0 Caribbean Area|xIn literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008100042 651 7 Karibik.|2gnd 651 7 USA|xSüdstaaten.|2gnd 651 7 Southern States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244550 651 7 Caribbean Area.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244080 655 0 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 655 7 Electronic books. .|2local 700 1 Britton, Celia,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n86053027|eeditor. 700 1 Munro, Martin,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ nb2001003399|eeditor. 710 2 Project Muse,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n96089174|edistributor. 830 0 Book collections on Project MUSE. 830 0 Francophone postcolonial studies ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2011035829|vnew series, vol. 3. 856 40 |zOnline eBook.
