Summary |
"This book, the first edited volume on the South Asian population in Quebec, uses the most recent understanding and data from a variety of fields to explore who these immigrants are and what they and their children may need to become healthy and productive members of an inclusive society. This original book showcases the contributions of eleven experts from twelve Canadian and international universities and governmental and community agencies to describe how South Asian immigrants and their children have been experiencing their life in the French speaking society of Quebec; how they have been integrating in the job market; how they have been doing socio-emotionally; what are their religious values; and how their kids have been doing in French speaking and English speaking schools. While some chapters consider South Asians as a whole group, others focus on a particular subgroup, reflecting the ethnic heterogeneity that exists within the community."-- Provided by publisher. |
