Among the most appealing energy sources is wind power-- with its high reliability and low environmental impact. Wind power's rapid penetration into markets throughout the world has taken many forms. In some cases, wind power is produced in large industrial wind farms by large horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs) that supply power directly to the grid. In other cases, wind power is produced more locally, at or near the site of power usage. In these cases, the wind is typically generated by smaller wind turbines that are in single-unit installations or in clusters of units. Regardless of the manifestation of the wind turbine systems, much thought must be given to the selection of the turbine, the economic viability of the installation, and the integration of the system to the connecting grid. It is the intention of this text to discuss these issues in detail so that appropriate decisions can be made with respect to wind power design, testing, installation, and analysis. The specific focus is on small-scale wind systems. While there is no universal definition of small- scale wind power, it generally refers to systems that produce only a few kilowatts, can be installed in constrained spaces, and have a small footprint. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Wind power.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85146874 650 0 Small power production facilities.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2007007757 650 7 Wind power.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1175627 650 7 Small power production facilities.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1743827 653 clean energy 653 Darrieus wind turbines 653 horizontal-axis wind turbines 653 local power production 653 off-grid energy generation 653 remote wind power 653 renewable energy 653 Savonius wind turbines 653 small-scale wind power 653 sustainable energy 653 turbine blades 653 turbine rotors 653 urban wind generation 653 vertical-axis wind turbine 653 wind turbine aerodynamics 653 wind turbine rotor design 653 wind turbines 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Plourde, Brian,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2016103575|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|z9781606504840 830 0 Environmental engineering collection.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2016086625 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=812953|zOnline eBook.
