Summary "This is a parable of a young princess and the story of the development of the human soul. The princess is born with the garment of heaven, forgotten during the course of her life as a result of the misuse of her wealth, greed and thoughts of power. Through the 'holy beggar' she is deprived of all her earthly goods and of the honourable love of a prince, whom she sends away to bring her the garments of the wind, the sun and the moon. Wretched and lonely she wanders through the world until finally she comes to understand her faults. At the end, recognizing that man is born with the clothing of heaven, the princess awaits death, until the prince finds her again."--Notes, p. 7.
