His terms 'paradigm' and 'scientific revolution' entered everyday speech, but they remain controversial. In the second half of the twentieth century, the new field of cognitive science combined empirical psychology, computer science, and neuroscience. In this book, the recent theories of concepts developed by cognitive scientists are used to evaluate and extend Kuhn's most influential ideas. Based on case studies of the Copernican revolution, the discovery of nuclear fission, and an elaboration of Kuhn's famous 'ducks and geese' example of concept learning, the volume offers new accounts of the nature of normal and revolutionary science, the function of anomalies, and the nature of incommensurability. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Kuhn, Thomas S.|q(Thomas Samuel),|d1922-1996.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n50046179 600 17 Kuhn, Thomas S.|q(Thomas Samuel),|d1922-1996.|2fast|0https ://id.worldcat.org/fast/15867 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Science|xPhilosophy|xHistory|y20th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010112245 650 0 Science|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008111330 650 0 Paradigm (Theory of knowledge)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85097744 650 0 Cognition.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85027742 650 0 Constructivism (Philosophy)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85031457 650 7 Science|xPhilosophy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1108336 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Science.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1108176 650 7 Paradigm (Theory of knowledge)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1052826 650 7 Cognition.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/866457 650 7 Constructivism (Philosophy)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/876182 655 0 Electronic book. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Electronic books.|2lcgft 700 1 Barker, Peter,|d1949-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n80155376 700 1 Chen, Xiang,|d1954-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2005054910 776 08 |iPrint version:|aAndersen, Hanne, 1964-|tCognitive structure of scientific revolutions.|dCambridge ; New York : Cambridge University Press, 2006|w(DLC) 2005021713 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=167893|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
