Summary |
A young John Ridd watches helplessly as his father is killed by an armed band of Doones. When John's mother, Sarah, confronts the feared leader, Sir Ensor, her appeal for justice falls on deaf ears. Young John is adamant that he will never forgive or forget the murder of his father. When John's Uncle Reuben is attacked by the Doones nine years later, the king's envoy is sent to Exmoor to investigate. On a covert visit to Doone Valley, John comes upon the beautiful Lorna but is horrified to learn she is a member of the family that murdered his father, and betrothed to her evil cousin Carver. |
