Generally, Jesus' logion is taken to convey a macabre image of impending judgement. However, this study offers fresh literary, redactional, and historical evidence to suggest that Luke recast Jesus' saying in order to describe something much more glorious--the deliverance of the elect. Examination of the material elsewhere in Luke-Acts corroborates Luke's expectation of an ethereal reunion. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 630 00 Bible.|pLuke|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79055751|xCriticism, interpretation, etc.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99004866 630 06 Bible.|pLuc|xCritique, interprétation, etc. 630 7 Bible.|pLuke.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1892926 630 07 Bible.|pLuke.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1892926 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aBridge, Steven L.|tWhere the eagles are gathered.|dLondon ; New York : Sheffield Academic Press, ©2003|z0826462170|w(DLC) 2003430748|w(OCoLC)52325391 830 0 Journal for the study of the New Testament.|pSupplement series ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42031989 |v240. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=377711|zOnline eBook.
