In June 2012, the incumbent president's center-right UMP party was swept out of government in the ensuing parliamentary elections, giving way to a new center-left majority in the National Assembly. This book analyzes the contexts and results of the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections in France. It assesses the legacies of the Sarkozy presidency that informed the 2012 electoral campaigns, scrutinizing his domestic social and economic policies on the one hand and European and foreign policies on the other. In turn, the elections' outcomes are also analyzed from the standpoint of various political parties and other institutional interests in France, and the results are situated within the broader run of French political history. Finally, the book examines the principal challenges facing the Hollande administration and new government of Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, and assesses how effectively these have been met during their first year in office"--Provided by publisher. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Sarkozy, Nicolas,|d1955-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no94036859 600 10 Hollande, François.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n92033817 600 17 Sarkozy, Nicolas,|d1955-|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/348208 600 17 Hollande, François.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 301651 610 10 France.|bParlement (1946- )|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n50000763|xElections|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh99005375|y2012. 610 17 France.|bParlement (1946- )|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/510268 648 7 2012|2fast 648 7 21st century|2fast 648 7 2000-2099|2fast 650 0 Presidents|zFrance|xElection|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010003045|xHistory|y21st century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Political leadership|zFrance|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010107082|xHistory|y21st century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Political parties|zFrance|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010107043|xHistory|y21st century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 7 Elections.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/904324 650 7 Presidents.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1075723 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Political leadership.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1069363 650 7 Political parties.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1069410 651 0 France|xPolitics and government|y2012-2017.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2012002765 651 7 France.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204289 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Electronic books.|2lcgft 700 1 Goodliffe, Gabriel,|d1971-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n2011011870|eeditor. 700 1 Brizzi, Riccardo,|d1978-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2008157886|eeditor. 710 2 Johns Hopkins University.|bSchool of Advanced International Studies,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n83178168|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tFrance after 2012.|dNew York : Berghahn Books, 2015|z9781782385486|w(DLC) 2014019711 |w(OCoLC)892894897 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=795159|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
