He learns about the horrific and senseless murder of a family of four in Holcomb, Kansas. Inspired by the story, Capote and his partner, Harper Lee, travel to the town to do research for an article. However, as Capote digs deeper into the story, he is inspired to expand the project into what would be his greatest work, "In Cold Blood." He arranges extensive interviews with the convicted killers, especially with Perry Smith. However, his feelings of compassion for Perry conflicts with his need for closure for his book which only an execution can provide. That conflict and the mixed motives for both interviewer and subject make for a troubling experience that would produce an literary account that would redefine modern non-fiction. 521 8 MPAA rating: R; for some violent images and brief strong language. 538 DVD, region 1, widescreen (2.35:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround. 546 English and French language soundtracks with optional subtitles in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin or cantonese), Korean, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia ; closed-captioned. 586 Golden Globes, USA, 2006: Best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama (Philip Seymour Hoffman); Academy Awards, USA, 2006: Best performance by an actor in a leading role (Philip Seymour Hoffman). 600 10 Capote, Truman,|d1924-1984|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n79104227|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001612 600 10 Smith, Perry Edward,|d1928-1965|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n86113642|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 600 10 Clarke, Gerald,|d1937-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n87945448|vFilm adaptations.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010004769 600 17 Capote, Truman,|d1924-1984.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/42417 600 17 Smith, Perry Edward,|d1928-1965.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/197693 600 17 Clarke, Gerald,|d1937-|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1950797 648 7 20th century|2fast 650 0 Authors, American|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85009808|y20th century|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2002012476|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 0 Murderers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh89004680|xInterviews|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010013210|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 7 Authors, American.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 821764 650 7 Murderers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1029821 650 7 Interviews.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/977644 655 7 Drama.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423879 655 7 Film adaptations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1710491 655 7 Feature films.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026247 655 7 Feature films.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1710384 655 7 Film adaptations.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026254 655 7 Fiction films.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026250 655 7 Fiction films.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1710264 655 7 Biographical films.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /genreForms/gf2011026089 655 7 Biographical films.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1710277 655 7 Crime films.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026177 655 7 Crime films.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1710477 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2lcgft|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2011026725 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1710450 655 7 Video recordings.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026723 655 7 Video recordings.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1692913 655 7 Drama.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/ gf2014026297 700 1 Miller, Bennett,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2006031620|edirector. 700 1 Baron, Caroline.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2003093053 700 1 Vince, William.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2008024939 700 1 Ohoven, Michael.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2007079546 700 1 Futterman, Dan,|d1967-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no99044060 700 1 Hoffman, Philip Seymour,|d1967-2014.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no00013388 700 1 Keener, Catherine.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no98083212 700 1 Collins, Clifton,|cJr.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n00113770 700 1 Greenwood, Bruce,|d1956-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/nr00021938 700 1 Balaban, Bob.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n89609282 700 1 Pellegrino, Mark.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no99079921 700 1 Cooper, Chris,|d1951-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no96063989 700 1 Danna, Mychael,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82007098|ecomposer. 700 1 Clarke, Gerald,|d1937-|tCapote. 710 2 United Artists Corporation.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n50057783 710 2 Sony Pictures Classics (Firm)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no97061496 710 2 A-Line Pictures.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2010085067 710 2 Cooper's Town Productions (Firm)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2008072880 710 2 Infinity Media (Firm)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no98079566 710 2 Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (Firm)|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2005068937 901 MARCIVE 20231220 935 498479 994 C0|bRID
