Olympiodore et Damascius sur le Phédon / Bram Demulder et Gerd Van Riel - - Au terme d'une tradition: Simplicius, lecteur du Phédon / Marc-Antoine Gavray. 520 8 Plato's 'Phaedo' has never failed to attract the attention of philosophers and scholars. Yet the history of its reception in Antiquity has been little studied. The present volume therefore proposes to examine not only the Platonic exegetical tradition surrounding this dialogue, which culminates in the commentaries of Damascius and Olympiodorus, but also its place in the reflections of the rival Peripatetic, Stoic, and Sceptical schools. This volume thus aims to shed light on the surviving commentaries and their sources, as well as on less familiar aspects of the history of the 'Phaedo's ancient reception. By doing so, it may help to clarify what ancient interpreters of Plato can and cannot offer their contemporary counterparts. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Plato.|tPhaedo. 630 07 Phaedo (Plato)|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01358386 650 0 Immortality (Philosophy) 650 0 Death. 650 7 deaths.|2aat 650 7 PHILOSOPHY|xHistory & Surveys|xAncient & Classical. |2bisacsh 650 7 Death.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00888613 650 7 Immortality (Philosophy)|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00967858 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Delcomminette, Sylvain,|eeditor. 700 1 Hoine, Pieter d',|eeditor. 700 1 Gavray, Marc-Antoine,|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tAncient readings of Plato's Phaedo. |dLeiden ; Boston : Brill, [2015]|z9789004282179|w(DLC) 2015026854|w(OCoLC)900685728 830 0 Philosophia antiqua. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1068936|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
