Summary |
Winner of an Edinburgh Festval Fringe First in 1996, and later adapted for BBC Radio 4, this is a bittersweet comedy set in Glasgow about escapism and cultural misunderstanding. Sandra is tired of being Sandra. She longs for the intriguing life that comes with being a Czechoslovakian dissident (this is set in 1989), like her flatmate Tereza. And so, Sabina is born, and the victim is Matthew, Tereza's language student. As love takes hold, the situation takes on sinister connotations - should he be told the truth or continue in his exotic ignorance? |
