Summary Cecilia Bartoli pays tribute to her great predecessor, Maria Malibran. Cecilia Bartoli is undoubtedly one of the most popular opera singers of our days. She is often compared to Madonna -- a true superstar, that is to say. Admired for her virtuosity, the subtle tone of her powerful voice, and her charisma, she is also a genious when it comes to building musical programs (for her albums or her concerts). Her albums Sacrificium, Mission, and Maria have received great acclaim in the press, among the specialists and music lovers around the world. She is the classical artist from Universal (Decca, Deutsche Grammophon ...) that has sold the greatest amount of albums (over 11 millions in the beginning of 2015). In this concert, she sheds light on the favorite repertoire of Maria Felicia Garcia, best known as "La Malibran", one of the greatest prima donnas in the history of opera. Bel canto popular arias by Rossini and Bellini, but also some pieces that are less known, such as Infelice by Mendelssohn, or Air à la tyrolienne by Hummel, are here sung by the great Cecilia Bartoli at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. Cecilia Bartoli had previously released on the Decca label an album dedicated to Maria Malibran.
