Summary |
The Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, a musical ensemble dedicated to intercultural dialogue. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée in 2004, movie director Karl More has met the young musicians chosen for the 2004 edition of this musical adventure. Since its creation in 1984, the aim of the orchestra has been twofold: on the one hand, to gather young musicians from the Mediterranean countries, on the other hand to perform works composed by contemporary composers. This documentary presents the rich history of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée with archive footages and interviews of the different musical directors. At the same time, the film gives a glimpse into the atmosphere within the group as it is lived by these young musicians, who come from a wide variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Although united by the music and their common Mediterranean background, the young performers still have to get to know, like and understand one another in record time in order to guarantee the success of this musical adventure. |
