She argues that addressing health problems and inequities in immigrant and ethnic communities requires, yes, engaging with understandings of cultural factors and traditional food practice ideals (the approach conventionally taken by nutritionists working with these populations)-but also more. While culture is an important aspect guiding health-related behaviors, it needs to be considered along with key structural factors including race, gender, and social class. Fuster's intersectional approach brings into view how health disparities and quality of life measures are related to food access, health, behaviors and overall wellbeing of migrant communities. By viewing and understanding these communities within an inequitable, interconnected and global migration experience, Fuster finds that the same global forces that create migration flows are also creating distinct conditions and 'othering processes' that do in fact result in different health outcomes in the receiving countries"--|cProvided by publisher. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 610 27 National Book Committee.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/516246 650 0 Caribbean Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85020278|xHealth and hygiene|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00005597|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79007751-781 650 0 Caribbean Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85020278|zNew York (State)|zNew York|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001008850 650 0 Cuban Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85034614|xFood|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005367|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781 650 0 Puerto Ricans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85108935|xFood|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005367|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781 650 0 Dominican Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh89007141|xFood|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005367|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781 650 0 Health and race|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85059528|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh00002758|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781 650 0 Health|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008121489|zNew York (State)|zNew York.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79007751-781 650 7 Caribbean Americans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 847445 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Cuban Americans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 884777 650 7 Food.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/930458 650 7 Puerto Ricans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1083707 650 7 Dominican Americans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 896753 650 7 Health and race.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 952806 650 7 Social aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1354981 650 7 Health|xSocial aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/952795 650 7 Emigration and immigration.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/908690 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE / Disease & Health Issues.|2bisacsh 650 7 Caribbean Americans|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/847447 651 0 New York (N.Y.)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79007751|xEmigration and immigration.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh00005907 651 7 New York (State)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1210280 651 7 New York (State)|zNew York.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/1204333 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aFuster, Melissa.|tCaribeños at the table.|dChapel Hill : The University of North Carolina Press, [2021]|z9781469664569|w(DLC) 2020055722 |w(OCoLC)1230250058 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=3035922|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
