Summary |
Otello, a Moor appointed governor of Cyprus on behalf of the 15th century Venetian Republic, loves and is loved by his young bride, Desdemona. Soon, however, he is deceived by his ensign, the evil Iago, into believing that Desdemona is unfaithful to him. Otello's jealousy overwhelms him and he murders Desdemona. Upon learning the truth, Otello kills Iago and himself. |
