While at one time transatlantic studies concentrated predominantly on men's travels, this volume highlights the resilience of women who ventured voluntarily and by force across the Atlantic--some seeking mobility, adventure, knowledge, wealth, and freedom, and others surviving subjugation, capture, and enslavement. The essays gathered here concern themselves with the fictional and the historical, national and geographic location, racial and ethnic identities, and the configuration of the transatlantic world in increasingly taught texts such as The Female American and The Woman of Colour, as well as less familiar material such as Merian's writing on the insects of Surinam and Falconbridge's travels to Sierra Leone. Intersectional in its approach, and with an afterword by Eve Tavor Bannet, this essential collection will prove indispensable as it provides fresh new perspectives on transatlantic texts and women's travel therein across the long eighteenth century. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 17th century|2fast 648 7 18th century|2fast 648 7 1600-1799|2fast 650 0 Comparative literature|xAmerican and English.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008107018 650 0 Comparative literature|xEnglish and American.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008107019 650 0 American literature|xWomen authors|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85004361|xHistory and criticism. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001187 650 0 English literature|xWomen authors|xHistory and criticism. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008103144 650 0 American literature|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85004336|y17th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012473 650 0 American literature|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85004336|y18th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012474 650 0 English literature|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85043777|y17th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012473 650 0 English literature|y18th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85043781 650 7 Comparative literature|xAmerican and English.|2fast|0https ://id.worldcat.org/fast/1750842 650 7 Comparative literature|xEnglish and American.|2fast|0https ://id.worldcat.org/fast/1750845 650 7 American literature|xWomen authors.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/807271 650 7 English literature|xWomen authors.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/912218 650 7 American literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 807113 650 7 English literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 911989 650 7 LITERARY CRITICISM|xGeneral.|2bisacsh 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 700 1 Krueger, Misty,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2020032668|eeditor. 700 1 Epelbaum, Diana,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Johnson, Shelby,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2014080020|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Gomashie, Grace,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Perkins, Pamela Ann,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /n00046770|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Klein, Ula Lukszo,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Golightly, Jennifer,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 McQuigge, Alexis,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Cox, Octavia,|ewriter of textual content. 700 1 Barnett-Woods, Victoria,|ewriter of textual content. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aKrueger, Misty.|tTransatlantic Women Travelers, 1688-1843.|dNew Brunswick : Bucknell University Press, ©2021|z9781684482979 830 0 Transits: Literature, Thought and Culture 1650-1850 Ser. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2553835|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
