| Summary |
A creation by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the Opera national de Paris Ballet in 2004. The most horrible crimes, fratricide and infanticide, are embodied by the Medee interpreted by the étoile Marie-Agnès Gillot. For his third creation at the Opéra de Paris, Preljocaj was inspired by Médée: not the one we find in the mythological stories, but the ones who make the contemporary headlines. How could we possibly understand this woman's sacrilege if we don't interpret it as the terrible willing of stopping belonging to the human kind? The score was written by the Venitian composer Mauro Lanza, born in 1975. It was ordered by the Paris Opera and the Ircam-Centre Pompidou, where the composer is in residence. |
