It offers a thorough mapping of the domain in which Shakespearean childhoods need to be studied, in order to show how studying Shakespearean childhoods makes significant contributions both to Shakespearean scholarship, and to the history of childhood and its representations. The book is divided into two sections, each with a substantial introduction outlining relevant critical debates and contextualizing the rich combination of fresh research and readings of familiar Shakespearean texts that characterize the individual essays. The first part of the book examines the significance of the figure of the child in the Shakespearean canon. The second part traces the rich histories of negotiation, exchange and appropriation that have characterised Shakespeare's subsequent relations to the cultures of childhood in literary realms. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Shakespeare, William,|d1564-1616|xCriticism and interpretation.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85120926 600 10 Shakespeare, William,|d1564-1616|xCharacters|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85120865|xChildren. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99004941 600 10 Shakespeare, William,|d1564-1616|xCriticism and interpretation|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85120928 600 17 Shakespeare, William,|d1564-1616.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/29048 648 7 1500-1600|2fast 650 0 English drama|yEarly modern and Elizabethan, 1500-1600 |xHistory and criticism.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008103081 650 0 Children in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85023534 650 7 Criticism and interpretation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1198648 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Children in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/855252 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Chedgzoy, Kate.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n95058955 700 1 Greenhalgh, Susanne.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /n2007022276 700 1 Shaughnessy, Robert,|d1962-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n91126369 776 08 |iPrint version:|tShakespeare and childhood.|dCambridge, UK ; New York : Cambridge University Press, 2007 |z9780521871259|z0521871255|w(DLC) 2007013264 |w(OCoLC)122526163 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=206627|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
