First, they are addictive in the sense that an increase in past consumption of the good leads to an increase in current consumption. Second, their consumption harms the consumer and others. This second property makes them of interest from policy, legal, and public health perspectives. The tremendous expansion in research in the economics of substance use and abuse since the early 1980s and the presence of many unresolved issues motivate this volume. While most of the papers are by economists, the disciplines of medicine, political science, and psychology also are represented. Any successful attempt to address substance use must adopt an interdisciplinary perspective. The aim of the volume to cover issues pertaining to individual behaviour, social interactions, markets, and politics makes this all the more necessary."--Jacket. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Substance abuse|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85129539|xEconomic aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005484|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 0 Substance abuse|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010114985|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 0 Substance abuse|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85129539|xGovernment policy|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005269|vCongresses.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001533 650 2 Substance-Related Disorders.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D019966 650 2 Drug and Narcotic Control.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D004335 650 2 Social Behavior.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D012919 650 7 Substance abuse|xEconomic aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1136774 650 7 Substance abuse.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1136767 650 7 Substance abuse|xSocial aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1136818 650 7 Substance abuse|xGovernment policy.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1136779 655 2 Congress.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D016423 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1423772 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2lcgft|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026068 700 1 Lindgren, Björn,|d1942-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n83145877 700 1 Grossman, Michael,|d1942-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n82098426 776 08 |iPrint version:|aArne Ryde Symposium (24th : 2004 : Lund University Center for Health Economics).|tSubstance use. |dAmsterdam ; Boston : Elsevier JAI, 2005|z0762312335 |w(OCoLC)60611240 830 0 Advances in health economics and health services research ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2006020946|vv. 16. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=166817|zOnline eBook.
