Political Change in the Arab Gulf States explores the politics influencing the volatile situation in the region, as well as specific measures devised by regimes in power to adjust to the challenges of the current environment. The authors first focus on the politics of seven Gulf states: Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. They then consider four forces that are shaping current political attitudes and behavior across the region: movements to broaden womenʹs political participation, the media, current US national security policy, and regional defense cooperation. The result is an up-to-date assessment of the prospects for political reform in the Gulf and an important corrective to a simplistic domino theory of democratization. -- Publisher description. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Democratization|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh98003467|zPersian Gulf States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85100068-781 650 0 Democratization|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh98003467|zPersian Gulf States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85100068-781|vCase studies.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 0 Social change|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85123918|xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00005651|zPersian Gulf States. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85100068-781 650 0 Social change|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85123918|xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00005651|zPersian Gulf States |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85100068-781 |vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99001484 650 0 Democratization|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh98003467|zSaudi Arabia.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n80131611-781 650 0 Social change|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85123918|xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00005651|zSaudi Arabia.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80131611-781 650 7 Politics and government.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1919741 650 7 Democratization.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 890123 650 7 Social change|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1122326 650 7 Social change.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1122310 651 0 Persian Gulf States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85100068|xPolitics and government.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002011436 651 0 Persian Gulf States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85100068|xPolitics and government|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002011436|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99001484 651 0 Saudi Arabia|xPolitics and government.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh2004003457 651 7 Persian Gulf States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244350 651 7 Saudi Arabia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1210372 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Case studies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423765 655 7 Case studies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2017026140 700 1 Tétreault, Mary Ann,|d1942-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80126555 700 1 Okruhlik, Gwenn.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ nr2002023943 700 1 Kapiszewski, Andrzej,|d1948-2007.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78040821 776 08 |iPrint version:|tPolitical change in the Arab Gulf States.|dBoulder, Colo. : Lynne Rienner Publishers, 2011 |z9781588267528|w(DLC) 2010032864|w(OCoLC)653122994 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=565047|zOnline eBook.
