CONCLUDING REMARKS. 520 3 Weighed down by population aging, slow economic growth, and high unemployment, National Insurance Schemes in the Caribbean are projected to run substantial deficits and deplete their assets in the next decades, raising the prospects of government intervention. With the region highly indebted, this paper quantifies the impact of three parametric reforms--freezing pension benefits for two years, raising the retirement age and increasing the contribution rate by one percentage point--that, if implemented, would put the pension schemes on a stronger financial footing. While the appropriate combination of reforms necessary to eliminate the actuarial deficits varies depending on each country's circumstances, most countries need to undertake reforms now or risk even higher taxes, lower growth and unsustainable debt dynamics. 588 0 Online resource; title from pdf title page (IMF.org Web site, viewed November 28, 2016). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Old age pensions|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85094517|zCaribbean Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85020279-781 650 0 Retirement age|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85113351|zCaribbean Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85020279-781 650 0 Economic development|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85040804|zCaribbean Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85020279-781 650 7 Old age pensions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1045349 650 7 Retirement age.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1096322 650 7 Economic development.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 901785 651 7 Caribbean Area.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244080 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Okwuokei, Joel Chiedu,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2012152242|eauthor,|e(IMF staff) 700 1 Li, Mike,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2016158578|eauthor,|e(IMF staff) 700 1 Robinson, Timothy P.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2008033805|eauthor. 700 1 Thomas, Saji,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n96079142|eauthor,|e(IMF staff) 710 2 International Monetary Fund,|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81052755|epublisher. 710 2 International Monetary Fund.|bWestern Hemisphere Department,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82237138|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aBen Nassar, Koffie.|tNational Insurance Scheme Reforms in the Caribbean.|dWashington, D.C. : International Monetary Fund,2016|z9781475545432 830 0 IMF working paper ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no89010263|vWP/16/206. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1529317|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
