In Australia, Flexible Learning Options (FLOs) have arisen as a response to the premature disengagement from schooling of a sizeable number of Australian youth. FLOs attend to the educational, social and well-being needs of young people experiencing complex life circumstances, yet empirical evidence of their value to date has been largely anecdotal. The significance of this book lies in its innovative approach to gauging the value of FLOs - to young people themselves, as well as the wider Australian community. Drawing on past research and new findings from a national investigation, the authors provide novel insight into the pressures pushing young people out of schools and the mechanisms at work in FLOs to re-engage them in education. The varied contributions of this book elucidate many of the measurable impacts of FLOs on the life trajectories of disenfranchised youth, including improved economic integration, mental and emotional wellbeing, and myriad other outcomes. The significance of this project lies in its exploration of how young people and staff understand the transformative nature of the FLO experience, with an analysis that brings to light the wider value of this type of educational intervention in terms of long term community benefit. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Educational innovations|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85041127|zAustralia.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79021326-781 650 0 Education and state|zAustralia.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008102675 650 0 Educational change|zAustralia.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2009102577 650 0 Dropouts|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85039629|zAustralia|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79021326-781|xPrevention.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99002416 650 0 Aboriginal Australians|xEducation.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2009113348 650 0 Students|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85129296|zAustralia|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79021326-781|xEconomic conditions.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005736 650 0 Students|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85129296|zAustralia|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79021326-781|xSocial conditions.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 7 Educational innovations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/903483 650 7 Education and state.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 902835 650 7 Educational change.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 903371 650 7 Dropouts.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/898363 650 7 Aboriginal Australians|xEducation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/794510 650 7 Students.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1136041 650 7 Economic conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919582 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 651 7 Australia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204543 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 McGinty, Suzanne,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n90719112|eeditor. 700 1 Wilson, Kimberley,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2018060962|eeditor. 700 1 Thomas, Joseph|q(Mark),|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2018060650|eeditor. 700 1 Lewthwaite, Brian,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2018060914|eeditor. 710 2 Brill Academic Publishers,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n98028814|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tFlexible learning options.|dLeiden ; Boston : Brill Sense, [2018]|z9789463512411|w(DLC) 2017056240 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2090862|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
