The 1st work consists of 5 bridal folk songs from the Voronezh district, collected by Galina Tkachova; 2nd work is a ballet for solo voices (SATB), chorus, 4 pianos and 6 percussionists; 3rd work for women's voices; 4th work for women's voices and 4 horns; 5th-7th and 9th works for unacc. mixed choir; 8th work consists of 3 motets by Gesualdo for unacc. choir, completed by Stravinsky; 10th work for male voices and instrumental ensemble.
Sung in Russian, Latin, or English; the 5th-7th works sung in the original Church Slavic text.
