Summary |
Through the letters received by a middle-aged Englishwoman from children at a school in Zimbabwe, the writer paints a picture of the struggle the children have simply to survive, let alone go to school and learn. The main character's materialistic daughter questions her mother's need to give so much, and whether she is simply assuaging her own moral guilt through charity. |
