Summary |
Meet the French composer Colin Roche. Colin Roche is a composer who draws his inspiration from several sources. The "materialistic" poetry of Francis Ponge, the cinema of Robert Bresson, the novels of Nathalie Sarraute are as many invitations to explore musically the individual's inner movements driven by unconscious forces. Multiples sources of inspiration, and multiple ways of expression. Colin Roche is a multidisciplinary composer. Working with film-makers, in particular Simon Artignan, the French composer has composed some of his most acclaimed works, such as Petites Économies de nos pollutions (2004) or La Robe des choses (2006). Colin Roche has also explored the world of the ballet, on the occasion of the 100th anniversay of the Ballets Russes, with La Châtaigne par les cendres, a ballet commissioned in 2010 by the Printemps des Arts de Monaco ("The Spring of the Arts of Monaco"). A career built upon longstanding artistic friendships, a strong political commitment, a musical journey off the beaten tracks, the movie director Benjamin Bleton draws an interesting portrait of the French composer Colin Roche, a composer who has imposed his views on music and the world. |
