Summary In 13th century Italy, Count Oberto of San Bonifacio has been driven into exile but had to leave behind his daughter, Leonora. Riccardo, Count of Salinguerra, adopted a false name and seduced Leonora, while holding out his promise of marriage. It is not long, however, before he abandons her and announces his engagement to Cuniza. Oberto returns and he and his daughter work together to avenge her honor and get revenge on Riccardo for his betrayal.
