Using archaeological, visual and textual evidence from across the Roman Empire, the personal meanings of late antique possessions are revealed through reference to theoretical approaches including object biography. Heirlooms, souvenirs, and gift objects are discussed in terms of sentimental value, before the book culminates in a case study reassessing baskets as an artefact type. This volume succeeds in demonstrating personal scales of value for artefacts, moving away from the focus on economic and social status that dominate studies in this field. It thus represents a new interpretation of domestic material culture from Late Antiquity, revealing how objects transformed houses into homes during this period. 588 0 Online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on April 18, 2019). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Classical antiquities.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85026692 650 7 Classical antiquities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /863445 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aStoner, Jo.|tCultural lives of domestic objects in late antiquity.|dLeiden ; Boston : Brill, [2019]|z9789004386877|w(DLC) 2018055727 830 0 Late antique archaeology.|pSupplementary series ;|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2018041979|vv. 4. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2091827|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
