"The twelfth annual meeting of The Charles Wesley Society was held at Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C. Due to restrictions and anxiousness regarding travel resulting from the tragedy in New York City on September 11, 2001, attendance at the annual meeting was very limited. In addition to cancellations of registrations, there were also cancellations of presentations. One paper scheduled for presentation was e-mailed to the Society by The Rev. Tomas Boström of Sweden, who was not able to attend. Hence, the only papers published in this issue from the 2001 meeting are those of Tomas Boström, 'To translate a heartbeat,' and of S T Kimbrough, Jr., 'A bibliography of translations of Wesley hymns.' We have used this opportunity to publish some papers in this issue which were presented to the Society before it began publishing an annual journal. The papers of the late Frank Baker and E. Ann Buckroyd were presented at the Society meetings in 1991 and 1993 respectively, and John Tyson's paper appeared in an early newsletter of the Society."--P. 3. |
