Summary Program #447 : Title:Privacy and technology, manners and morals "Gary Marx discusses the concerns implicit to the manners and morals of new technology. The advent of sophisticated communications equipment has made the delivery of messages very simple, but has also increased the vulnerability of the senders and recipients to abuse. The use of surveillance equipment to monitor behavior is widely accepted by the public in this era of rampant crime and terrorism. But it too has the potential to alter social behavior if misused."
Program #448 : Title: Islam and atheism in Central Asia "The Soviet conquest of Central Asia had the effect of crushing Islamic theory and practice to control political and social life and education was an important tool for this purpose. Shahrani explains how Islamic thinkers must now reclaim the education system to restore Islam".
