Summary
Program #515 : Title: The Balkans, past and future "The Kosovo military conflict ended in Macedonia. The agreement which terminated the allied bombardment was signed in that country and signifies the peacemaking role this small nation hopes to play in a troubled region. Central to this are Macedonia's hopes for a regional economic revival. This in turn depends upon massive foreign aid and a program of Marshall Plan dimensions. Macedonian Ambassador Ljubica Acevska explains these points."--Track sheet.
Program #516 : Title:Teacher of the year "Education is revered as the essence of the society's promise to its youth. But what is a good education and who is a good educator? A special awards ceremony in Washington DC provided strong answers to both questions. Vernon Burton - one of the four professors of the year - describes the passion for critical thinking he seeks to inspire in students and its importance to society."--Track sheet.
