Summary Program #738 : Title: Iran, the next crisis "The once fearsome revolutionary government of Iran may have entered an age of uncertainty. The 65% of Iran's population that is under 30 is increasingly restless. Drug traffic from Afghanistan has begun to corrupt Iranian government and society. And the violence of Iraq together with the American presence in that country is deeply feared. The problems, coupled with international concern over Iran's nuclear ambitions have unsettled Iranian politics just before the June Presidential election. Shaul Bakash explains the issue."--Track sheet.
Program #739 : Title: Building the next American century "The post-World War II years brought unprecedented prosperity to America. Indeed, the concluding half of the 20th century was largely an economic triumph of the 'American dream.' That success - and the complacency it engendered - was rudely shaken by the economic shocks of the 1970s. "Stagflation," foreign competition, and oil embargos badly shook America. The result was a new competitiveness strategy that fueled the dynamic decade of the 1990s. Kent Hughes argues that a new version of this strategy is needed as the 21st century matures."--Track sheet.
