Summary |
George Benjamin conducts the Royal Opera House Orchestra and Chorus in this 2013 performance of his own work on which he collaborated with playwright Martin Crimp. The opera tells the story of a troubadour (Bejun Mehta) who has an affair with the wife, Agnès (Barbara Hannigan), of his employer (Christopher Purves). When her husband finds out he kills the troubadour and feeds Agnès his heart, unbeknownst to her. When she discovers what she has done she is driven to suicide. |
