Beginning with the celebrations around the supposed triumph of the "liberal nation" after the overthrow of Juan Peron, this study examines Jewish activists' discourse through years of rapid transitions between civil and military rule, massive social protest, escalating violence, and finally the brutal military dictatorship of 1976 to 1983. It argues that these were crucial years in which Jewish activists forcefully discarded previous understandings of the nation and pioneered novel definitions of Jewishness and Zionism designed to resonate in a Latin America upended by revolutionary ferment. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Jews|zArgentina|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008122338|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012476 650 0 Jews|zArgentina|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh94004553|xIdentity. 650 0 Jews|zArgentina|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh94004553|xPolitics and government.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002011436 650 0 Jews|xCultural assimilation|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85070379|zArgentina.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79070134-781 650 7 Jews.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/983135 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Identity (Philosophical concept)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/966889 650 7 Ethnic relations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 916005 650 7 Politics and government.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1919741 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xDiscrimination & Race Relations.|2bisacsh 650 7 Jews|xCultural assimilation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/983194 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xMinority Studies.|2bisacsh 650 7 Jews|xIdentity.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/983278 650 7 Jews|xPolitics and government.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/983330 650 7 Juden.|2gnd 651 0 Argentina|xEthnic relations.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008114237 651 7 Argentina.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1205614 651 7 Argentinien.|2gnd 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aGurwitz, Beatrice D.|tArgentine Jews in the age of revolt.|dLeiden ; Boston : Brill, [2016] |z9789004329614|w(DLC) 2016030304|w(OCoLC)952700975 830 0 Jewish Latin America (Leiden, Netherlands) ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2012037149|vv. 8. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1368172|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
