To contain the risks associated with these costs, an effective regime for the financial supervision and oversight of public corporations should be put in place. This note discusses the legal, institutional, and procedural arrangements that governments need to oversee the financial operations of their public corporations, ensure accountability for their performance, and manage the fiscal risks they present. In particular, it recommends that governments should focus their surveillance on public corporations that are large in relation to the economy, create fiscal risks, are not profitable, are unstable financially, or are heavily dependent on government subsidies or guarantees. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (IMF Web site, viewed November 28, 2016). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Corporate governance|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh88007569|xQuality control.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00005852 650 0 Corporations|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85032928|xEvaluation.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005674 650 0 Corporations|xValuation.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85032956 650 7 Corporate governance.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 879649 650 7 Quality control.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1084966 650 7 Corporations|xEvaluation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/879840 650 7 Corporations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/879777 650 7 Corporations|xValuation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/879963 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Alves, Miguel,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2011117050|eauthor,|e(IMF staff) 710 2 International Monetary Fund.|bFiscal Affairs Department, |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81027435 |epublisher. 710 2 International Monetary Fund,|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81052755|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint Version:|aAllen, Richard I.|tHow to Improve the Financial Oversight of Public Corporations.|dWashington, D.C. : International Monetary Fund,2016|z9781475551983 830 0 How to notes (International Monetary Fund) ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2016130260|v3. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2085158|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
