520 Handwritten 1801 manuscript on the "art of keeping Books
of Accounts." It discusses various topics such as the day
-book, ledgers, Balancing, memorandum and expense books.
More than half of the manuscript consists of examples of
each topic with 1801 entries. It is not known whether the
manuscript was an instruction book used in a specific
country store or whether the entries are for real
transactions.
561 Library's copy in Riderana is a gift of Louis A. Leslie.
590 Library's copy came with a Feb. 14, 1952 donor letter from
F.L. Hunt to Gladys Lober stating that the manuscript was
the property of Cephas Akinson (1790-1860). Letter has
brief biographical information on Hunt and Akinson.
