Based on a new body of 160 oral history interviews, the book offers the first comprehensive historical study of the experience of motherhood in the second half of the twentieth century. Motherhood is an area where a number of discourses and practices meet. The book therefore forms a thematic study looking at aspects of mothers' lives such as education, health care, psychology, labour market trends and state intervention. Looking through the prism of motherhood provides a way of understanding the complex social changes that have taken place in the post-war world. This book will consider how women's experiences of motherhood reveal the change in women's lives, gender relations, culture and society, family and community patterns, health and welfare, and the relationship between the family and the state, that took place in these years. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Motherhood|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85087522|zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82068148-781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Mothers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85087526|zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82068148-781|xSocial conditions|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850|xHistory|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 7 Motherhood.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1026907 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Mothers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1026940 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Motherhood.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001001 650 7 Mothers.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0001021 651 7 England.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1219920 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Electronic books.|2local 776 08 |iPrint version:|aDavis, Angela, 1981-|tModern motherhood. |dManchester ; New York : Manchester University Press, ©2012|z9780719084553|w(DLC) 2011279667|w(OCoLC)762688570 830 0 Gender in history.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2003044830 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=514966|zOnline eBook.
