However, in an effort to contextualize the experiences of 574 federally recognized tribes and 50+ state recognized tribes, as well as villages, the authors focus on populations within rural and remote regions and discuss the experiences of some tribal communities throughout US history. It should be noted that established research has primarily drawn attention to the pervasive problems impacting Indigenous individuals, families, and communities. Aligned with an attempt to adhere to a decolonizing praxis, the authors share information in a strength-based framework for the Indigenous communities discussed within the text. The authors review federally funded programs (prevention, intervention, and treatment) that have been adapted for tribal communities (e.g., Safecare) and include cultural teachings that address child maltreatment. The intention of this book is to inform researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and advocates about the current state of child maltreatment from an Indigenous perspective"-- |cProvided by publisher. 588 Description based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on September 28, 2022). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Child abuse|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008117659 650 0 Child abuse|zUnited States|xPrevention.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008100366 650 0 Child welfare|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008100367 650 0 Indian children|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh93008500|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 0 Indians of North America|xSocial conditions.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85065383 650 0 Alaska Native children|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2009007133|xSocial conditions.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 0 Alaska Natives|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2009007114|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 7 Child abuse.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/854223 650 7 Child welfare.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/854709 650 7 Indian children|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/969079 650 7 Indian children.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 969067 650 7 Indians of North America|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https: //id.worldcat.org/fast/969904 650 7 Alaska Native children.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1748642 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Alaska Natives.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1748632 650 7 FAMILY & RELATIONSHIPS / General.|2bisacsh 650 7 Child abuse|xPrevention.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/854247 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 700 1 Green, Julii Monette,|d1976-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2012127761|eauthor. 700 1 Fuentes, Milton A.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2012040126|eauthor. 830 0 Violence against women and children (New Brunswick, N.J.) |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2017028644 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=3147330|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
