It examines how key decision-makers were influenced by their worldview and political ideology; beliefs about the relationship between urban form and society including formal theories; political strategizing at municipal, national, and international levels; and assessments concerning the deployment of limited resources. The work emphasizes how extant discourses acted as 'pathways of memory, ' shaping the way key actors attributed meaning to different elements of the urban landscape. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 City planning|zGermany|zBerlin|xHistory|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009119916|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002012476 650 0 Socialist realism and architecture|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85124146|zGermany|zBerlin|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79034972-781|xHistory. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Communism and architecture|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85029134|zGermany|zBerlin|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79034972-781|xHistory.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Architecture and state|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85006896|zGermany (East)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80125938-781 650 7 City planning.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/862177 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Socialist realism and architecture.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1123747 650 7 Communism and architecture.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/870486 650 7 Architecture and state.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/813586 651 0 Berlin (Germany)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79034972|xCultural policy|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh99005456|xHistory|y20th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 651 0 Berlin (Germany)|xPolitics and government|y1945-1990. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85013353 651 7 Germany|zBerlin.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1204829 651 7 Germany (East)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1210274 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aStangl, Paul.|tRisen from ruins |z9781503603202|w(DLC) 2017034427|w(OCoLC)995162465 830 0 Stanford studies on Central and Eastern Europe.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2011031721 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1724418|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
