Examining a variety of themes associated with both Propertian poetics (such genre theory, poetic models, the girlfriend, the rival) and the poet''s social context within the early Augustan principate (such as Roman imperialism, the elite male cursus honorum, Augustus'' building projects) she offers a synthetic overview of Propertius'' achievement in his four books of elegies. She considers the neglected relationship of rhetoric to Propertian elegiac poetics. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (ebrary, viewed May 9, 2014). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Propertius, Sextus|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79042233|xCriticism and interpretation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005576 600 17 Propertius, Sextus.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 33965 650 0 Elegiac poetry, Latin|xHistory and criticism.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008102957 650 0 Literature and society|zRome.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008106691 650 7 Criticism and interpretation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1198648 650 7 Elegiac poetry, Latin.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /907836 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aKeith, Alison.|tPropertius : poet of love and leisure.|d[London, England] : Bristol Classical Press, 2011, ©2008|hx, 214 pages|kClassical literature and society.|z9780715634530 830 0 Classical literature and society.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2005049348 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=964320|zOnline eBook.
