This reduced architecture is shown to shed new light on two long-standing problems in syntactic theory: split topicalization and quantifier float are analyzed as deriving from underlying exocentric (label- less) constituents in argument or adjunct position, which necessitate symmetry-breaking displacement. The analysis developed in this work thus constitutes an important step towards a more minimal syntax. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 German language|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85054365|xLocative constructions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00006444 650 0 German language|xSyntax.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008105225 650 0 German language|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85054365|xQuantifiers.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005853 650 0 German language|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85054365|xGrammar.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99004914 650 0 Minimalist theory (Linguistics)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh95003803 650 7 German language|xLocative constructions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/941587 650 7 German language.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 941408 650 7 German language|xSyntax.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/941753 650 7 German language|xGrammar.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/941527 650 7 Minimalist theory (Linguistics)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1022853 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|z9783110290370 830 0 Linguistische Arbeiten. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=494273|zOnline eBook.
