Summary In the years during the colonization of Canada there were travel books which were sold in England. Le Jeune studies the ways these descriptive texts created a series of surveys that assessed the worth of Canada and describe life on the frontier while it was being settled. In particular, this book focuses on how women are depicted and what roles they played in 19th century life. More importantly these travel logs allowed for new representations of women to trickle back to England, causing a re-imagining of what a stereotypical Canadian woman should be.
