This book reviews important aspects of the science engagement program, including: (a) objectives of the program, (b) opportunities and constraints in developing the program, and (c) scientific and political impacts of the activities. Suggestions for future activities that draw on the conclusions and recommendations that have emerged from workshops and other types of interactions are set forth. Of course, the political turmoil within Iran and uncertainties as to the direction of U.S.-Iran government-to-government relations will undoubtedly complicate initiation and implementation of new science engagement activities in the near term. At the same time, many American and Iranian participants and important government officials in the United States and Iran have believed that science engagement can contribute to the evolution of an improved political environment for development of less adversarial relations between the two governments. 588 0 Version viewed Mar. 18, 2015. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Science|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85118610|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Science|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85118553|zIran|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79039880-781|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Engineering|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85043205|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Engineering|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85043176|zIran|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79039880-781|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Medical sciences|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85083022|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n78095330-781|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Medical sciences|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85083022|zIran|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79039880-781|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 7 Science.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1108176 650 7 International cooperation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/976857 650 7 Engineering.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/910312 650 7 Medical sciences.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1014601 650 12 International Cooperation.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D007391 650 12 Science.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D012586 651 2 Iran.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D007492 651 2 United States.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D014481 650 22 Engineering.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D004738 650 22 Public Health.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D011634 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 651 7 Iran.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204889 655 4 Electronic books. 710 2 National Research Council (U.S.).|bOffice for Central Europe and Eurasia,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n96113862|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aSchweitzer, Glenn E., 1930-|tU.S.-Iran engagement in science, engineering, and health (2000- 2009).|dWashington, D.C. : The National Academies Press ; [2010], ©2010|w(OCoLC)690653790 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=349293|zOnline eBook.
