Ms., partly holograph, containing 4 items: 1. Corrected holograph early draft of the sonatas lacking the 1st 2 movements of the Sonata II and all of the Sonata III (fols. 1-24); 2. Copyist ms. of Sonata III with corrections by Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (fols. 25v-8); 3. Drafts of 3 pieces: an Andante in D Major, a fugue in f minor "Andante sostenuto", probably intended as a 1st movement to Sonata I, and an early beginning of the 3rd movement to Sonata I (fols. 29-32); 4. "II (corrected to VI) Sonaten für Orgel v. Mendelssohn" copied by F.X. Gleichauf, with corrections by Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: "No. 1" later published as Sonata III and "No. 3" later published as Sonata I. Also includes an Andante on fol. 71v crossed out, formerly belonging to Sonata V (fol. 38-85). |
