Summary |
Philip II of Spain marries Elisabeth de Valois who was engaged to his son, the Infante, Don Carlos. In trying to secure freedom for the Netherlands, Carlos is arrested. Carlos escapes and meets Elisabeth secretly. But they are spied upon, and only the apparition of his grandfather, Charles V, saves Carlos from the Inquisition. |
