As a child, Webster supposed Mission kids were well-cared for orphans, however growing awareness forced her to think otherwise. Over the years her questions accumulated: were her friends members of the Stolen Generations? What was life at Kurrawang really like? What are her responsibilities as a non-Indigenous Australian whose family's privilege was built on stolen land? For an institution that existed for over two decades, Webster finds that Kurrawang was strangely undocumented. Nor can she find any trace of her former friends, including a young Aboriginal girl who went on a beach holiday with Amanda's family. Then in 2012, Webster meets Gregory Ugle, an older brother of her former friend Tony. After a four-decade absence, Webster returns to her hometown with Ugle to reconnect with her former friends, and to piece together Kurrawang's story through oral histories and local newspaper archives. Over several trips, a sometimes uneasy tension emerges with Ugle as both he and Webster inch towards a fragile reconciliation. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Webster, Amanda|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2012062520|xChildhood and youth.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99004940 600 17 Webster, Amanda.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1930083 650 0 Children, Aboriginal Australian|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85009605|zAustralia|zWestern Australia|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79089339- 781|zKurrawang Mission. 650 0 Stolen generations (Australia)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2004010539|zAustralia|zWestern Australia.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79089339 -781 650 0 Aboriginal Australians, Treatment of|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2004004742|zAustralia|zWestern Australia|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79089339- 781|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005024 650 0 Reconciliation.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85111855 650 7 Children, Aboriginal Australian.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/856898 650 7 Stolen generations (Australia)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1736393 650 7 Aboriginal Australians, Treatment of.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1743348 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Reconciliation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1091509 651 0 Kurrawang Mission (W.A.) 651 7 Australia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204543 651 7 Western Australia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1206031 653 Australian 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |cOriginal|z9781742235134|z1742235131|w(OCoLC)952278674 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1355185|zOnline eBook.
