Lean Logistics updates Air Force logistics operations by applying technology and management innovations that have proven effective in the commercial world, are relevant to the central supply problems of the Air Force, and are affordable. The analysis in this study used Air Force data to drive simulations of C-5 logistics operations and considered peacetime flying programs. This study found that a high-velocity infrastructure would provide C-5 performance that is the same as or better than that provided by the current infrastructure across a wide range of conditions and circumstances. A high-velocity infrastructure would require only one-sixth the amount of inventory at one-third the cost of the current infrastructure to produce the same operational performance. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Airplanes, Military|zUnited States|xMaintenance and repair |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009114557 |xCost control.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005354 650 0 Airplanes, Military|zUnited States|xMaintenance and repair |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009114557 |xManagement.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002007911 650 0 Galaxy (Jet transport)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85018533|xMaintenance and repair.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00007535 650 0 Just-in-time systems|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh88003148|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78095330-781 650 7 Airplanes, Military.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 803587 650 7 Cost control.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/880702 650 7 Management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1007141 650 7 Galaxy (Jet transport)|xMaintenance and repair.|2fast |0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1798184 650 7 Galaxy (Jet transport)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1798183 650 7 Just-in-time systems.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 985115 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 4 Electronic books. 710 1 United States.|bAir Force.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n79126811 710 2 Project Air Force (U.S.)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n85368122 710 2 Rand Corporation.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n78083407 776 08 |iPrint version:|aRamey, Timothy L., 1951-|tLean logistics.|dSanta Monica, CA : Rand, 1999|z0833026976 |w(DLC) 98054431|w(OCoLC)40501280 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=20460|zOnline eBook.
