Browder. 520 The fifteen essays in this volume offer a comprehensive look at the role of American military forces in Germany. The American military forces in the Federal Republic of Germany after WWII played an important role not just in the NATO military alliance but also in German-American relations as a whole. Around twenty-two-million US servicemen and their dependants have been stationed in Germany since WWII, and their presence has contributed to one of the few successful American attempts at democratic nation building in the twentieth century. In the social and cultural realm the GIs helped to Americanize Germany, and their own German experiences influenced the US civil rights movement and soldier radicalism. The US military presence also served as a bellwether for overall relations between the two countries. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 610 10 United States.|bArmy|xForeign service|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85140635|zGermany (West)|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80125937-781|xHistory. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005024 610 17 United States.|bArmy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 533532 611 27 Bundesprüfstelle für Jugendgefährdende Schriften|gBonn |eJahrestagung.|2gnd 610 27 University of South Alabama.|2gnd 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Americans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85004432|zGermany (West)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n80125937-781 650 0 Sociology, Military|zGermany (West)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2010113951 650 0 Sociology, Military|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008111994|xHistory|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 7 Diplomatic and consular service.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/894202 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Armed Forces.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/814586 650 7 Americans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/807488 650 7 Sociology, Military.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1123942 650 7 Military relations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1353799 651 0 United States|xArmed Forces|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85139803|zGermany (West)|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80125937-781|xHistory. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005024 651 0 United States|xMilitary relations|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85140380|zGermany (West)|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80125937-781 651 0 Germany (West)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80125937|xMilitary relations|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006409|zUnited States.|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n78095330-781 651 7 Germany (West)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1210273 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Maulucci, Thomas W.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2001107048 700 1 Junker, Detlef.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no93020451 776 08 |iPrint version:|z9780521851336 830 0 Publications of the German Historical Institute.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n91067514 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1900469|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
