But more than an ethnography on the road, it is an anthropology of the road. Highways are part of an explicit cultural-material nexus that includes houses, urban architecture and vehicles. Complex socio-political phenomena such as EU border security, nationalist politics, post-Cold War capitalism and financial crises all leave their mark in the concrete. This book explores anew classical anthropological and sociological categories of analysis in direct reference to infrastructure, providing unique insights into the political and cultural processes that took place across Europe after the Cold War. More specifically, it sheds light on political and economic relationships in the Balkans during the socialist post-Cold War period, focusing especially on Albania, one of the most under- researched countries in the region. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (Ebsco, viewed March 8, 2017). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Ethnology|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045227 650 0 Roads|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85114487 |xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh00002758|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 0 Anthropology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85005581|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 7 Ethnology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/916106 650 7 Roads|xSocial aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1098814 650 7 Roads.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1098511 650 7 Anthropology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/810196 651 7 Balkan Peninsula.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1241484 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aDalakoglou, Dimitris.|tRoad.|dManchester, United Kingdom : Manchester University Press, 2017 |z9781526109347|w(DLC) 2017288498|w(OCoLC)961705738 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1481469|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
