In support of the thesis, Matthew's multifaceted use of Scripture is considered, along with the prominence of Deuteronomy and the related themes of sonship and obedience in early Judaism and Christianity. It is concluded that Matthew has utilized these prevalent themes in a unique way, applying them messianically to Jesus, and consequently also to the early Christian community. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Jesus Christ|xPerson and offices|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85070081|xBiblical teaching.|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00007757 600 04 Jesus Christ|xPerson and offices|xBiblical teaching. 600 07 Jesus Christ.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/40116 630 00 Bible.|pMatthew|xCriticism, interpretation, etc.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85013762 630 00 Bible.|pDeuteronomy|xCriticism, interpretation, etc. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85013781 630 00 Bible.|pDeuteronomy|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79135429|xRelation to Matthew.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00007587 630 00 Bible.|pMatthew|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79056834|xRelation to Deuteronomy.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00007587 630 04 Bible.|pMatthew|xCriticism, interpretation, etc. 630 04 Bible.|pDeuteronomy|xCriticism, interpretation, etc. 630 04 Bible.|pDeuteronomy|xRelation to Matthew. 630 7 Bible.|pMatthew.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1808086 630 7 Bible.|pDeuteronomy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1808024 650 0 Son of God|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85124808|xBiblical teaching.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00007757 650 0 Obedience|xBiblical teaching.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85093629 650 7 Biblical teaching.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1352006 650 7 Son of God|xBiblical teaching.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1125783 650 7 Son of God.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1125782 650 7 Obedience|xBiblical teaching.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1042708 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aCrowe, Brandon D.|tObedient Son : Deuteronomy and Christology in the Gospel of Matthew.
